Is it weird?

So I thought of a new addition to JoeJiko.com that I'm going to add.

"Is it weird?"

Here's how it works..

Step 1
Something questionably weird happens

Step 2
Post questionably weird thing to the "is it weird?" page
(consequently the post is virused out to all known social channels)

Step 3
People decide if it's weird.

Options would be: "yeah that's weird" "nah bro" and "meh"

Sub categories/filters: "by joe jiko", "by randoms", "definitely weird", "iffy"

I personally think it will be hilarious and informative. I've decided it will definitely be useful for me to be able to gauge how weird life is according to you random people.

Leave a comment if you're a human with an opinion or a suggestion.
(Otherwise, i'll have to assume you're an aids-infested mostly-decomposed zombie slut-whore)

What is your opinion of me? (ideas)

I've been in a mood to do work on my own site and I'm trying to get as much accomplished as possible before it goes away.

I just had this idea and I'd like to get your opinion.

I have an "ask me anything" section that I'll be releasing in a few days and in a similar fashion I'd like to create a "leave your opinion" section.

Obviously the name needs some work.

Basically I imagined it would have 3 tabs.
1) social opinions
2) professional opinions
3) trolls and lulz

Each tab might have a sub category or tags, be searchable etc.

Good idea or no? Leave a comment and let me know!

Keep track of your friends!

I had this idea while I was coming home from work.

A calendar/reminder system that sets up days to check in with your friends.

It would work like this

  • connect to facebook to import your friends

  • select a few of your "close friends"

  • generate reminders

The app would then fill in the next 30 days with

  • up to 5 of your closest friends

  • 20 random people from your friend list (preferably these people would be active facebook users)

  • 5 random people who live near you

Each day on the calendar would have that day's person's profile photo.

On a person's day, all of their facebook posts will be displayed and any other activity I can glean from the Graph API. This data will also be emailed.

This would help expose you to people's lives you might otherwise have missed.

Would you use something like this?

Would you use something like this?

Setting up web deployment from Github

I've decided this is going to be my project tonight.

Basically I think it should work like this

1. Use Git to manage version history
already doing this

2. Store repository on Github
currently storing the repo on my HostGator server

3. Work locally and push commits to Github when ready
currently pushing commits straight to the bare repo on the server, which updates the working directory

4. Navigate to a Deploy interface and press a button to deploy the Master branch from Github

Leave a comment if you see a blaring mistake or if you'd like to know the results!
